Teacher—Student
In order to build respectful relationships with our students, we simply need to slow down and engage fully in what a child has to say.
Investing this time allows students to make strong connections with their teacher and therefore with their learning too.
Establishing a classroom culture which is inclusive and collaborative is at the very core of what I value most.

Leader / Teacher—Teacher
Mutual respect, trust and honesty are attributes I have worked hard to build with my colleagues over the years.
I am able to converse effectively with a diverse range of people in a variety of contexts and I believe that building professional relationships which allow for growth are essential.
I have demonstrated the ability to listen, negotiate, challenge thinking, listen to different points of view and share ideas in my various leadership roles.
I have proven success in leading staff to shared understandings through constructive problem solving which has ultimately lead to improved practice and outcomes for students.
Leader / Teacher—Community
I have years of experience confidently presenting information to parents, boards of trustees and most recently, at a national conference.
Having outstanding content knowledge and expertise in the area of new entrants teaching has enabled me to develop positive relationships with our Early Childhood sector.
Each term I chair our Otumoetai Cluster Transition to School meetings which include educators from ECE and Primary sectors. Together we discuss new ideas, new approaches and new ways of thinking related to a successful transition process for students.
Having 3 years as our staff Board of Trustees representative has given me an insight into the inner runnings of our school at a governance level and I have been instrumental in communicating our staff view points on numerous occasions.
I am able to make connections with our family, whanau, school and given the opportunity, across our community of schools.
By working effectively together, we can come up with new approaches, ideas and ways of thinking.
